Reigning Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion Martin Truex Jr. returned to his dominant ways at Auto Club Speedway. Truex led 125 of the 200 laps, won both stages, and won the race on Sunday in California. It’s the first win of the year for Truex who also moved up to the top spot in the season standings. Kyle Larson overcame a lap 38 run-in with Kevin Harvick to finish a season-best second despite not leading a lap. Kyle Busch was giving Truex a run for his money, but his handling goes away after a mistake by his crew on pit road during their last stop. Busch settled for a third place run.
