Looking at Koe Wetzel’s music page, you can see he has been in a reflective mood. Pictures and videos with captions like “Crazy how the years go by so fast,” “Ready for this new chapter to start,” and sneak peeks of his new song “Time Goes On.”
The lyrics we have been given so far seem to be written from the perspective of someone who walked out of the bar, realized the party was great, and is okay with that.
Historically, Koe’s sound lived in the dark: fueled by loud noise, neon lights, and the kind of trouble you only find after midnight. “Time Goes On” could be a counterbalance to that, a more mature sound, when you lose your buzz.
Koe’s life has changed recently. He has become a father, and was quoted on the Bobby Bones podcast saying, “I’ve slowed down so much…in my younger 20s I was in and out of jail and stuff, it was crazy, I was out of hand, I was out of control.” He followed with “Every now and then I’ll still cut loose…not as bad.”
As Koe’s audience matures, the college students who discovered “Noise Complaint” in 2016 are now in their late 20s and 30s. This new song could prove that his music is moving from being the “party soundtrack” we know and love to our unofficial “life soundtrack.”
“Time Goes On” is set to release on February 6th, 2026.
