Teachers make a big impact on the lives of the young people within our community. That’s why 95.9 the Ranch and Van Griffith Kia have teamed up to salute our local teachers by selecting a teacher of the week to recognize weekly.

This week’s teacher of the Week is from Strickland Middle School in Denton, Ms. Jessica Baker!  Ms. Baker was nominated by the parent of a student and from the description below, we are happy to make her our Ranch teacher of the Week!

“This teacher goes way above and beyond. We are a title 1 school, none of us are well off. This teacher feeds the kids who don’t have money to eat. My son says she has a no ask drawer and they know just to get food out of it if they are hungry. She has students who are so far behind. She motivates them each by getting to know her students and know what they get motivated by. She was the first and only teacher who has ever called me and talked positively about my kid. She thinks he hung the moon when other teachers think he is the worst student ever. She teaches them character traits and life lessons and not to just that stupid test. My son and his friends can go in to her class I the morning and she will help them with any subject…:even if she has to google it. She gives rewards to students who have never got praise. She finds the positive. My son says mom, she will not let me not do my work. Not working is not an option. When she has subs they can’t handle these classes. She cares. Doesn’t matter who you are, what grades you get, if you make mistakes, if you pass or fail so stupid test. My son got held back last year and you would think he is an honors student in her class. He has never had a teacher like him before. She believes in my kid. That is all we need. Thanks”

For being the Ranch Teacher of the week, Ms. Baker will receive a prize pack including a $100 Gift Card to Daireds Salon Spa Pangea, $50 Visa Gift Card, an oil change from Van Griffith Kia, plaque and our sincerest appreciation!
